| The exciting news in the search engine arena is that Bing has started to power Yahoo! Search in the United States and Canada. However, only the English version is affected by this transition. As stated in Bing Webmaster Blogs, the other languages will follow suit in the nearest future, but that may still take some weeks and even months. The ten (10) year search alliance Yahoo entered with Bing includes migrating their advertising to Microsoft adCenter. Both search engines are closely working together presently to smoothly finish the advertising migration before the end of this fall. Under the agreement, Yahoo will take charge of sales of advertising for both companies. Webmasters around the world are eager to see how relevant Bing search results pages will be during this alliance. Actually many are worried, since Yahoo generates more traffic to their sites than Bing. I hope Bing will use Yahoo search algorithm to better its SERPs, if it actually wants to be a force that will challenge Google’s near monopoly of search engine market share. And I would also like to see if adCenter will include some new innovative features that would be credible rattle Google Adwords and Adsense. Whatever comes out of this hyped search alliance, it would mean more money for both Bing and Yahoo. And they would somehow take a little bite out of Google’s share of the search market. So, let’s see how the folks at Microsoft handle keyword relevance and advertising. |
